Unconquered Junagarh Fort, the National Research Centre on Camel and the famous Karni Mata Temple make Bikaner a fascinating desert stop.
Founded by Rao Bika in 1488, Bikaner is a proud desert city of red sandstone. Junagarh Fort, built on the plains rather than a hilltop, hides some of Rajasthan’s most ornate palace interiors.
Visit the National Research Centre on Camel, explore the lavish Lalgarh Palace, sample Bikaner’s famous bhujia and sweets, and make a short trip to Deshnoke’s Karni Mata Temple.
Bikaner is about 5.5 hours by road from Jaipur and 5 hours from Jaisalmer. The city is well connected by rail.
